Some sessions just hit differently, and this one at Sundance, Utah, was definitely one of those. The setting, the season, the family—it all came together so perfectly, it felt almost unreal.
Sundance in the fall is already a dream, but this day took it to another level. At the bottom of the mountain, it was still all warm autumn vibes—golden leaves, crunchy trails, that cozy glow. But if you looked up? Boom. Snow-covered peaks, like winter was peeking over the edge, ready to take its turn. It felt like standing in two seasons at once, and honestly, I was obsessed.
The family I got to photograph made it even better. It was my friend and her adorable kids, and let me tell you—they were the sweetest. Her little ones were so fun to watch, just doing their thing and playing like I wasn’t even there. That’s my favorite kind of session, where I can step back and let the moments unfold naturally.
And their outfits? So good. Totally giving off a classic Ralph Lauren vibe with all the cozy knits, plaids, and earthy tones. They fit the setting perfectly, like they were made for it. It was pretty cold up there, but they toughed it out like pros. Honestly, the chilly air just made everything feel even cozier, and those little pink noses and cheeks? Adorable.
Looking back at the photos, I can’t help but smile. Sundance gave us this insane backdrop, but it was the love and connection between them that made the photos so special. It’s the kind of session that reminds me why I love what I do.
If you ever get the chance to visit Sundance during that magical in-between season when fall and winter collide, do it. And if you can experience it with people you love, even better.
This is why we do things a little differently around here – all I want to do is make everything about you. Curious? Come find out why I do what I do.
