Whenever I have an idea in the middle of the night, two things happen. One is I text Madilyn and two I have to execute it like ASAP.
If you know me at all, you know I love the holidays (well except the snow). I always do a Christmas themed shoot and this year I knew I wanted to do something a little different. I wanted a vintage, romantic, “just got married” feel. A deconstructed version of a bride and groom who just got their first Christmas tree.
We braved the cold as tiny snowflakes fell. These two are always magic to watch, they’re always so in sync, their hands intertwined as they walked, their laughter and smiles warming us all up. Ethan dragging the sweet little Christmas tree through the snow-filled neighborhood, Madilyn in a vintage inspired dress, the cold crisp air nipping at our noses as we created these magical images while walking through these quiet streets.
As the cold started to get the best of us, we decided it was time to move indoors. While the snowy landscape had provided a beautiful backdrop, the warmth of a cozy home was too tempting to resist. We quickly set up shop in the living room, surrounded by twinkling lights, a tinsel filled tree, and Christmas decorations.
To capture the energy of the holiday season, we created multiple lighting situations to play with. Using flash gave the photos an editorial edge, while the soft glow of candlelight added a touch of romance. These two always are so patient to let me experiment with my creativity, and together we explored different poses and compositions, working to capture the joy and love between them.
In the end, I am so thrilled with the beautiful series of images we had created. The vintage, romantic vibe I had wanted for the shoot had come through perfectly, and the couple’s love and connection shone through in every photograph. It was a joy (as always) to work with my muses and Tenesha on hair. I’m so excited to share them with you!
I hope you enjoy! Happy Holidays!
XOXO,
Morgan
